Behaviour Interactive dropped a cryptic teaser this time yesterday of a flashlight on a table illuminating a haphazard stack of bloody papers. While many assumed it meant Alan Wake, others thought it might be hinting at a long-awaited flashlight nerf. That first assumption was right, as the famed horror author himself is stepping foot into The Fog later this month.
The crossover features Alan Wake as a new survivor, with several perks themed around the series of the same name.
- Champion of Light - using a flashlight gives you 50 percent haste and blinding a killer gives them 20 percent hindrance for six seconds.
- Illumination - holding ability button one near a Dull or Hex Totem turns it into a Boon Totem that then lets all survivors within range see the aura of chests and generators.
- Deadline - when injured, skill checks appear six-to-ten percent more frequently when repairing or healing. The penalty for missing skill checks is also halved.
Some fans speculated that we might see Scratch step into The Fog alongside Wake for this crossover, much as we've seen Pyramid Head leap from the streets of Silent Hill and Nemesis from Resident Evil's Raccoon City, but for the time being, the crossover is limited to Wake himself.
Much like in Alan Wake 2, actors Ilkka Villi and Matthew Porretta will portray the character together, lending their likeness and voice respectively. But it won't be lines ripped from the Alan Wake games, as new and original recordings have been made specifically for the crossover.
We are thrilled and honored to have Alan Wake enter the Fog of Dead by Daylight,” Remedy Entertainment creative director Sam Lake adds. “The lore of both games is surprisingly compatible, a true match in… hell. With Alan Wake 2 now out, the time is right for another nightmare to begin.”
